Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
Ingredients
- 1 bone-in turkey breast 5-7 lbs., thawed
- 3 tbsp. melted butter
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. crushed thyme leaves
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. fresh ground pepper
- 1 tsp. jerk seasoning
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cooking onion, sliced into thin rounds
- 1 stalk of celery sliced
- 1 carrot peeled and sliced
Preparation
- Dry turkey breast thoroughly with paper towels
- Brush all over with melted butter
- Combine all seasonings in small bowl and sprinkle over turkey breast, rub in if necessary
- Add broth to slow cooker, and line bottom with onions, carrot and celery
- Place turkey breast on top and cover with lid
- Cook on low for 5-7 hours until internal temperature is 165°
- For crispier skin, brush skin with olive oil and place under broiler on high for 5-7 minutes
- Allow breast to rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing
- Strain the liquid from slow cooker to use as base for gravy
Notes
NOTE: To avoid lifting cover, place leave-in probe into thickest part of breast and set thermometer to 165°. Thermometer will beep when set temperature is reached.
