Ingredients
- ¾ cup Crisco
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 1 cup canned tomato soup
- ¾ cup water
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 cups flour
- ¾ tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 ½ tsp. nutmeg
- 1 ½ cups chopped nuts
- Frosting
- 1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
- Pre heat oven to 350°
- Grease and flour 9 x 13 baking dish
- Mix Crisco and sugar until fluffy
- Add tomato soup, water and mix until combined
- Combine baking soda, flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, in a bowl and whisk to combine
- Add dry ingredients a cup at a time until batter is formed
- Pour into prepared pan
- Smooth bater to evenly distribute
- Bake for 50-60 minutes
- Set aside until cool
- While cake is cooling, add cream cheese, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla into mixing bowl and beat until fluffy
- Spread over cooled cake, garnish frosting with chopped nuts
- Refrigerate until served
